Apple Recipe!
Apple Recipe!
By Nick Lynch S.S.C, C.F.T.
These foods when combined can be a deliciously healthy explosion of awesomeness when consumed properly. The idea is of course to find the best quality of each. Apples should be local and/or organic. Organic local apples are though to find so if you do not have them available you are better off getting local apples from a small farm. They tend to use fewer pesticides and give more care to their crop. Cheese can be superbly healthy and tasty when coming from a good source. Look for local (if available), grass fed and/or organic cheddar cheese. If you cannot find local don’t fret, get the grass fed and you’ll be all set. Bread can be found local in most states, if not then look for Ezekiel bread products, as they are fantastic. Another healthy kind of bread is the Alvarado Street Baking, like Ezekiel, they are available in the freezer section of health food stores nation wide. The bread should have ingredients such as whole-wheat flour, yeast, water, salt and rye. Avoid bread products that contain vegetable oils, corn syrups, sugar, and enriched, white or bleached flour. Breads with sprouted grains are good. Peanut butter should but just that, peanut butter! Make sure there are no added ingredients such as sugar, corn syrup, partially or fully hydrogenated oils, salts etc. Ingredients should read: dry roasted peanuts, salt. Or peanuts. Makes sense right? Peanuts in peanut butter? I agree.
1 apple sliced
1-2 oz of cheese thinly sliced
1-2 tablespoons of peanut butter
1 slice of bread lightly toasted and thinly spread with pasture butter (made by organic valley)
Spread the peanut butter on each slice of apple, and then place slices of cheese on top of each apple slice. After warming up the bread, lightly spread the pasture butter about 1 tablespoon’s worth. This small meal can be easily packed, taken to work, school, on the road and anywhere as long as you have a container to hold the food in. Now eat and enjoy!
Apples sliced nice.
Real bread looks like this.
Butter from grass fed cows, nation wide product is Organic Valley's pasture butter.
