Superb Health 5k

By Nick Lynch S.S.C, C.F.T.
The first annual Superb Health 5k a benefit for Special Olympics Vermont

The superb health 5k took place Saturday the 26th of September at Vermont's state capital lawn. Temperatures started out at an awakening 34 degrees before rising up into the high 60's by the time runners/walkers were finishing. We all had a good time participating in an event that has benefited so many. We raised money and awareness for the Special Olympics. Food was supplied by local farmers/bakers from Vermont. We enjoyed honey, breads, granola, cookies and apples all of which were made for this event. The ingredients were carefully chosen for the participant’s good health. It wouldn't make much sense to have white bread and sugary drinks for an event entitled "Superb Health 5k" would it? Of course not. The food consumed was very nutrient dense; the cookies were even sweetened with maple syrup. Yummy!!!!

Lots of gifts were handed out at the end of the race, 29 to be exact. All the gifts were donated from local business ranging from food to toys to family portraits to messages. Participants also received a Superb Health 5k 2009 organic cotton t-shirt printed with PVC free ink. What’s the point of organic PVC free t-shirts? Because your skin is the largest organ in your body and absorbs harmful chemicals like PVC when present. Therefore to keep our health Superb we got the PVC free and organic t's.

All in all the first ever superb health 5k was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who donated, showed up and participated. Thanks to the Volunteers for arriving early in the extra cold temperatures and doing a great job.
